How can engineers help with the Antropocene?

Since when have we entered the Anthropocene, this new "human era" in which thermo-industrial societies are approaching or even exceeding some of the limits of the Earth system and destroying our social structures?
As the architect of the current socio-ecological crisis and a tireless promoter of technical solutions, how can enginners help with  this issue?

Following the rise of the Anthropocene, The Shift Project team will review the physical limits of the Earth-system, as well as the consequences of our activities on social structures, in order to suggest some ideas on how to get out of the dead end in which humanity and, in particular, engineers are trapped.
