An itinerant school

Christian Hottin, an archivist paleographer (classof 1997) and a director of studies at the Institut national du patrimoine, gives a lecture entitled "Une école vagabonde" (A Wandering School), as part of the celebrations for the bicentenary of the École nationale des chartes - PSL.

When the École nationale des chartes was moved opposite the Bibliothèque nationale de France, it returned to the place where it was founded in 1821. Has this come full circle? In this lecture, we suggest a look at the movements of the institution over the course of two centuries: the Bibliothèque nationale, Archives nationales, the Sorbonne... Not to mention a large number of projects that were abandoned along the way, and sometimes only just sketched out.
