Giving clothes a second life while supporting solidarity and sustainable projects: this is the objective of the solidarity thrift store organized at Chimie ParisTech PSL by the student associations Ecosciences and PEPSS.
From Monday, February 16th to Friday, February 20th, a clothing drive will be held at the Mazet Center during opening hours. The collected clothing will then be sold at low prices from February 23rd to 27th at Chimie ParisTech PSL from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM and from 4:45 PM to 5:30 PM, to fund projects run by the associations Ecosciences and PEPSS, both committed to solidarity and sustainable development. Ecosciences, which raises awareness about sustainable development, will use the funds raised to renovate its vegetable garden located at the Pierre-Gilles de Gennes research center, as well as to organize conferences on sustainable food. PEPSS (Pour un Engagement dans des Projets Solidaires au Sud – For Engagement in Solidarity Projects in the South) is a humanitarian association that supports projects carried out with local partners in Africa, particularly in Togo and Madagascar.
In Madagascar, the association works to raise awareness about drinking water quality by conducting water quality tests with local residents.
In Togo, the project focuses on education, funding the renovation of practical workrooms in a school near Kpalimé. Volunteers will travel there in August to teach French and mathematics. By participating in this charity shop, everyone can take concrete action, both for more responsible consumption and for supporting committed student projects in France and abroad.
