Between intimate lyricism and orchestral sweep, An English Violin offers a musical journey to the heart of 19th and 20th century England, carried by violinist Geneviève Laurenceau and the Orchestre de Picardie.

With “An English Violin,” Geneviève Laurenceau offers a diverse and sensitive musical portrait of England at the turn of the 20th century, where grandeur meets intimacy and resonates deeply with the soul. At the heart of this album, the violin concerto by Guirne Creith, a major but often overlooked English composer, is reborn with lyricism and passion, alongside the moving melodies of Edward Elgar, Rebecca Clarke, and William Walton. The Orchestre de Picardie, under the direction of David Niemann, joins forces with the chamber music sensibility of Jean-Frédéric Neuburger to bring this unique program of British works to life, alongside Geneviève Laurenceau.
