A debate with Sanjay Subrahmanyam

What if, between the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries, the Portuguese, Spanish, Ottoman, Mughal and British empires had inspired one other? What if their history had more in common than we can imagine? Speakers:

• Sanjay Subrahmanyam is a historian, author of numerous publications on the modern times. He was trained in economy historyat the Delhi School of Economics (India), he took the position of professor aDelhi, EHESS (Paris) and Oxford, where he held the Chair on Indian history & cultures. Since 2004, he's been a professort at UCLA.
• David Do Paço is a historian whose research focuses on the Habsburg Empire and the Muslim diaspora in early modern Europe. He is currently a visiting professor at Columbia University.
• Mathieu Terrier is a research fellow at the CNRS and a member of the LEM, specializing in the history of ideas in Islam.
• DANIEL Barbu is a historian of religions, a researcher at the CNRS and a member of the LEM. His work focuses on the history of relations between Jews, Christians and Muslims.
