This is the first lecture in a series of 7.
The first part "Climate" will deal with the main principles governing the climate system, and the changes induced by humans. A particular attention will be given to the carbon cycle, but other aspects (biodiversity, extreme events, impacts...) will also be addressed.
The second part "Anthropocene" will deal with the history of ecological awareness and the contribution of social sciences with themes such as degrowth, social justice, and the notion of Anthropocene era itself. This part aims to raise awareness about the non-sustainability of our current world and to reflect on possible ways out of this dead end.
