The project for the Université PSL 2025-2035
The Université PSL, ranked among the world's top 30 universities, is made up of 13 prestigious institutions.
It combines disciplinary excellence and interdisciplinarity. Its collegial model preserves the identity of each member while fostering synergies. Thanks to the support of the Idex, it has strengthened its international visibility, attracted talent from all over the world and developed innovative academic programs, thus establishing itself as a global academic reference.
Following his election in December 2024 as President of the Université PSL and its foundation, French economist El Mouhoub Mouhoud unveiled his project, with the main aim of making PSL a top 10 research university worldwide by 2035, recognized for its inclusiveness and pioneering role in societal transformations.
Here are the 4 fundamental principles and 10 key strategic actions to achieve the objective set by the Chairman:
- Prestigious heritage and figurehead in international rankings: ARTU PSL aggregate ranking, only French university in the top 30
- Key role in France's reindustrialization and competitiveness needs: PUI, 80 patents filed/year, 80 start-ups created/year (Aqemia, Alice & Bob...)
- Unique collegial governance and construction model
- Broad disciplinary coverage, enabling fruitful interdisciplinary complementarity: IHU Women's Cancer, PariSanté Campus, 14 Major Research Programs, IA Cluster
- Open excellence: 34% CPES SMD undergraduate scholarship holders, 51.5% female enrolment, 60% students from outside the IDF region, including 24% international students, + 20 major international academic partners
TOWARDS 2035, 10 STRATEGIC ACTIONS :
1. Consolidate the foundations to become a global European university
2. Objective Top 10 worldwide by strengthening research collaborations and developing structuring programs. Support high-risk research.
3. Recruit and retain talent with a policy of incentives, attractive packages and partnerships.
4. Multiplier effect of brands PSL and its components must combine their brands for greater impact.
5. Open up excellence to diversity by improving equality of access
6. Avant-garde university by setting up a “Change Makers” program to train leaders capable of transforming society
7. Increase enrolment without compromising academic excellence
8. Strengthen governance by emphasizing collegiality to encourage cooperation between components
9. Diversify the business model to ensure sustainability by increasing own resources and optimizing real estate assets.
10. International outreach and cooperation with the South Develop campuses and partnerships with foreign institutions, and promote the training of local talent in developing countries.
