Bubenicek
Director of the École nationale des chartes Michelle Bubenicek is a graduate of the École des Chartes and the Institut National du Patrimoine. She holds a Paleography Archivist degree (1994) and a PhD in History (1998), and received her authorization to direct research (HDR) in 2010. She began her career as a heritage curator with the Archives of France directorate of the Ministry of Culture (1995-1999). Elected Lecturer at the Université de Franche-Comté in 1999, she subsequently became Professor of medieval history in 2011 and ran the university’s History Department from 2011-2013. A medievalist specialized in political and social history, she has authored many publications, including: Quand les femmes gouvernent. Droit et politique au XIVe siècle (Paris, ENC, 2002); Entre rébellion et obéissance (Genève, Droz, 2013) and Meurtre au donjon (Paris, PUF, 2014). Since September 1, 2016, she has served as Director of the École nationale des chartes.
