QS Subject Rankings 2026: Université PSL tops the list of French institutions with 47 entries

The 2026 edition of the QS subject rankings, published on 25 March, confirms PSL University’s standing within the French and international academic landscape. With 47 entries in the subject-specific and broad-field rankings, Université PSL is the most highly represented French institution this year.
A stable and extensive presence
PSL University appears in 47 rankings in 2026, the same number as in 2025 (47) and an increase compared to 2024 (45). It ranks ahead of:
- Sorbonne University (42 appearances)
- Paris-Saclay University (36)
- Grenoble-Alpes University and Aix-Marseille University (31 each)
In total, 93 French institutions are ranked in 2026 (+12 compared to 2025).
A wide range of disciplines
The QS rankings cover 55 disciplines, grouped into five main fields:
- arts and humanities
- social sciences and management
- natural sciences
- engineering and technology
- life sciences and medicine
