The Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics focuses on mathematics (particularly optimization probabilities and statistics) and is complemented by introductory courses in other areas of mathematics as well as elective courses in economics, finance, IT and other sciences. It is the first step in a curriculum that is very popular with a number of businesses in the service industry (financial markets, actuarial services, marketing, scoring, polling, big data. management, digital image processing, modeling and mathematical analysis, multimedia, etc.) but can also lead to advanced studies in applied mathematics and a doctoral thesis.
The first year (L1) of the Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science offers a solid scientific training in mathematics and computer science, complemented by courses in economics and modern languages. The development and use of mathematics and computer science have become exponential and widespread in many technologies and sectors. The construction of decision-making, statistical analysis and data processing tools (in economics, ecology, medicine or finance, for example) relies on elaborate mathematical relationships, the fundamental principles and concepts of which are taught during the Mathematics and Computer Science degree.
Teaching objectives
- Acquire training focused on mathematics and complemented by optional courses in economics, finance, and computer science
- Acquire skills in high demand within many professions and activities in the service industry
- Offers the possibility to complete digital projects
The Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics aims to provide students with a strong foundation at undergraduate level in theoretical and numerical analysis, probability, and statistics, while also offering an opening toward other disciplines such as computer science, physics, and economics.
