MSCA Conference speakers - Michela Bello

Michela Bello is an economist with more than ten years of professional experience in the areas of innovation, science, digitalization and global value chains.

Ms. Bello currently works as Socio-Economic Analyst at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, where she is in charge of a project assessing country innovation performance and gathering policy-relevant evidence on the contributions and drivers of science, technology and innovation. Previously, she worked as an analyst in the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, where she contributed to the measurement of business innovation and was responsible for a survey of researchers providing evidence in various science policy areas including research engagement, work conditions of researchers, digitalization, and gender equality. Michela has also worked as a researcher for UNIDO, where she co-authored various reports on the impact of foreign direct investment in developing countries.

She holds an MSc in Economics from Bocconi University and is currently studying for a PhD at the Science Policy Research Unit of the University of Sussex. Her PhD research focuses on the productivity and innovation implications of a firm’s position in global value chains.

She will take part in the 2022 MSCA conference, in the first workshop on gender equality in science.
