Agreement signed with Polytechnique Montréal
Polytechnique Montréal and Université PSL have strengthened their collaboration, and signed a new agreement to develop their research and innovation collaboration and support student mobility. This agreement is part of Université PSL's new international strategy.
As part of its international strategy, Université PSL is reviewing its portfolio of collaborations in order to choose partners with profiles and priorities that are conducive to building lasting relationships that include the training, research, innovation continuum.
Polytechnique Montréal (PolyMontréal) is one of the biggest engineering research and training establishments in Canada. Cutting-edge research is at the heart of courses at both PolyMontréal and PSL, to train responsible engineers who innovate in response to environmental, social and economic needs in constant open dialog with the industrial sphere.
In April 2023, France and Canada decided to expand their cooperation by creating a Joint Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (Comix). The Comix agreement was signed on April 24, 2023 in Ottowa, during the visit of Sylvie Retailleau, Minister of Higher Education and Research of the French Republic, to Canada.
In this context, and in order to support student mobility and strengthen scientific dialog between the two universities, Maud Cohen, President of Polytechnique Montréal, and Alain Fuchs, President of Université PSL, signed a new agreement on June 20, 2023. The following individuals were also present at the signing: Jennifer Heurley, Vice-President of International Relations, Arnaud Tourin, Vice-President of Research, Science and Society, Christian Lerminiaux, Director of Chimie ParisTech – PSL, Vincent Laflèche, Director of Mines Paris – PSL, Vincent Croquette, Director of ESPCI Paris – PSL for Université PSL and François Bertrand, Director of Research and Innovation at PolyMontréal.
This new agreement adds to well-established cooperation agreements between PolyMontréal and PSL’s three engineering schools (three separate agreements signed with Chimie ParisTech – PSL, Mines Paris – PSL and ESPCI Paris – PSL between 2000 and 2012). There is also a research and a strategic dimension, with joint seed funding programs set up for priorities defined by the Comix, which will involve structural calls for tender in areas such as innovative technology, One Health, Oceans & Poles and the energy transition.
