Deeptech: Three PSL start-ups awarded EIC Accelerator funding

The aim of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator is to support start-ups and small companies to develop their cutting-edge innovations. In the second round of selections, the EIC has awarded grants to 51 deeptech start-ups from 17 different countries, including 6 from France.
The three recipients from the PSL ecosystem are:

• Greenerwave: This start-up was created in 2015 and has developed technology capable of controlling the direction of electromagnetic waves. The solution has multiple applications, including in telecommunications, space and self-driving cars. It was created at Institut Langevin (ESPCI Paris - PSL & CNRS).

• PannTheraPi: This start-up was created in 2021 and has developed innovative medications that are effective against a new, revolutionary target: pannexin channels. This makes it possible to attack the root cause of neurological diseases and reduce their secondary effects. Mainly focused on patients’ medical needs that are currently unsatisfied, PannTheraPi is the first pharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of Pannexin-1 channel blockers to treat brain disorders, aiming to offer more effective care and better tolerance than current medications. It was born out of the Neuroglial Interactions in Cerebral Physiology and Pathologies Laboratory (Collège de France, CNRS, INSERM).

• Plenesys: This start-up was created in 2018 and has developed cutting-edge technology and processes using plasma (plasma torches, hydrogen production, etc.). It was created following research developed at the PERSEE Centre (Mines Paris – PSL).
