The Bachelor's in Social Science offers a multidisciplinary and international program. It is based on learning theoretical foundations and methodologies within a common core program during the first two years, followed by a specific academic path in the third year. Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy, and Economics


Learning outcomes

The Bachelor’s Degree in Social sciences is attached to the Department of Organizational Sciences at Dauphine – PSL. 
The bachelor's degree consists of:

  • A multidisciplinary core curriculum in Year 1 and 2, covering economics, management, law, and social sciences. In addition to coursework in these four disciplines, the program includes quantitative subjects (mathematics, computer science, and statistics) as well as strong awareness-building around the ecological, ethical, and political challenges of the contemporary world. These courses are offered across three study tracks: General, Legal, and Social Sciences.

    Students may complement their studies with two optional certificates :
  • A specialization year in Year 3, offered through one of the following tracks:
    • Economics
    • Public Policy
    • Sociology and Political Science

Economics

The third year of the LISS Bachelor’s degree (Economics) is aimed at students who have taken previous university classes or ENS preparatory classes in economics and requires a genuine enthusiasm for the discipline. It builds on the coursework of the Bachelor’s degree in Economics and is a natural conduit to the Master’s programs in Public Policies and Economics at Université Paris Dauphine-PS

Program objectives

  • Approach the issues facing modern society from an informed sociological point of view,
  • Understand the foundations of economic analysis (both micro and macro),
  • Develop skills in critical thinking and synthesis,
  • Prepare for work/study abroad,
  • Gain access to the outstanding Master’s programs at Dauphine and PSL in Public Policies; Institutions, Organizations, Economics, and Society; Law and Public Governance; International Action and Development; Peace Studies; Economics, etc.).

Public Policy

The third year of the LISS Bachelor’s degree - Public Policy is aimed at students who have taken previous university classes or BL preparatory classes in social science. It focuses on public law, local politics, and legal sociology. The program is a natural conduit to the Master’s programs offered at Dauphine-PSL and to the Master’s degree in Public Policies in particular.

Program objectives 

  • Approach the issues facing modern society from an informed sociological point of view,
  • Be able to conduct a legal and political analysis of changes in the law,
  • Develop skills in critical thinking and synthesis,
  • Prepare for work/study abroad,
  • Gain access to the outstanding Master’s programs at Dauphine and PSL in Public Policies; Institutions, Organizations, Economics, and Society; Law and Public Governance; International Action and Development; Peace Studies, etc.).

Sociology and Political science

The third year of the Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Political Science is aimed at students who have taken previous university classes or preparatory classes in social science. It focuses on social science methodologies. The program is both generalist and specialist and prepares students for further study in one of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL’s outstanding programs.

  • Approach the issues facing modern society from a sociological point of view,

Admission requirements for Bachelor year 3

Prerequisites and/or recommended diplomas to enter the program:

  • Direct admission is available for students from Dauphine – PSL who have successfully completed their second year of Bachelor’s studies in Organizational Sciences.
  • Admission is based on the review of an application file for students coming from the second year of the MIE Bachelor’s program.
  • Admission based on application file is also open to external applicants who have completed coursework in sociology, political science, or economics, coming from preparatory classes (khâgne BL) or other universities.
  • Knowledge of key authors in sociology and political science is required.
  • Familiarity with research methods (quantitative and qualitative) in sociology, political science, and economics is a significant asset.
